Gospel Road

The Gospel Road Show

His Last Days - Sunday 12th April 2009.

This was the first of the plays being offered under the banner of the Gospel Road Show and was performed at Newbold Baptist Church to celebrate Easter 2009. Approximately 25 people of all ages took part in this play which enacted the days leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

There was a full house, both on the night of the dress rehearsal and the actual performance and was extremely well received. Many people found it 'moving' 'heart rending' and 'amazing'.

Whilst one could pick out some extraordinary performances, all those who took part threw their hearts and talents into depicting the single most important event in history.

The immediate reaction was that people wanted more! The actors themselves found they had talents hitherto unused and were eager to continue in their new found fields.

This wasn't so much a 'professional' performance but something more; a real glimpse into the hearts of the people at the time.

Although funds, scenery and such were limited, the play lacked nothing visually or atmospherically.

From the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, to the halogen lit resurrection and the touching rendition of Amazing Grace, this play would be hard to equal in terms of impact.

As Director of His Last Days, I was thrilled at the unitiy, the effort made and the end result. It will live long in the memories of all that were involved.
